The annual Sports Medicine NZ Conference, for the first time in its 58 year history, will be delivered online.

Originally scheduled to be held at the Oaks Hotel in Wellington, in a first for Sports Medicine New Zealand, the 2021 conference will now be delivered on-line and will be available to delegates the world over.

Led by keynote speakers NZ’s Dr Sarah Beable, sport and exercise medicine physician from Queenstown, Michael Nitschke, sports podiatrist from Adelaide and Dr Michelle Smith, physiotherapist from Queensland, this year’s theme is The Running Athlete, which will expand to The Female Athlete. The programme will include a running technique keynote, an update on ‘tricky’ foot stress fractures, demystifying running shoes and strength training for an ultra-event. The female athlete presentations will provide key take homes for your patients including breast health, the differentials of RED-S – a diagnosis of exclusion, is IBS a sign of under-fuelling? We are also very excited to announce a snapshot into the preparations for the successful ‘pandemic’ games.

All oral presentations will be pre-recorded and will include live Q&A sessions.
